A fire incident, which affected the transportation of defendants to court, has stalled the trial of a convicted kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, charged with attempted kidnap before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos.

Evans  is standing trial alongside Joseph Emeka for attempted kidnap of the chairman of Young Shall Grow Motors,  Chief Vincent Obianodo.

The court had on June 15 fixed Friday to hear the evidence of Obianodo, via Zoom app.

During Friday court sitting, Justice Taiwo said that there was a fire incident which affected the transportation of the defendants.

She said, “I was informed by the Officer in Charge of prison that there was a fire incident which affected the transportation of the defendants to court.

“For security reasons, the defendants cannot be present in court.”

Justice Taiwo adjourned the case until July 25, 2022, for continuation of the trial.
