The pioneer Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Vincent Maduka, is set to present his memoir titled “The Reel Life: My Years Managing Public Service Television” on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Agip Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.
The memoir, which tells the African broadcasting history, will be reviewed by veteran journalist, advertising guru, and publisher, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi; Dr Yemi Farounbi and Prof Ralph Akinfeleye.
The book presentation will be led by the President of King’s College Old Boys Association, Kashim Imam; Chief Executive Officer of Omooba Yemisi Adedoyin Shyllon Art Foundation, Yemisi Shyllon; CEO of Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe; CEO of Channels Television, Dr John Momoh; Chairman, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Biodun Dabiri; and Director, Sermatech MJB Nigeria Limited, Dr Isioma Eziashi. The event will be chaired by Dr Michael Omolayole.
The memoir, which was published by SQS Publishing, chronicles the history of public broadcasting service in Africa from a Nigerian perspective based on the work and personal account of Maduka as a former General Manager of Western Nigeria Television from 1973-1977, the first Director-General of the NTA from 1977-1986’ and as the pioneer Consultant/CEO of Nigerian Communications Commission.
‘Reel Life’ is said to be a masterpiece on Nigeria’s broadcasting history, bold and transparent public leadership, governance and finance of a public organisation, and television content. Also, it is described as a tool for forging national unity, a catalyst for national mass mobilisation and social change.
It has also been suggested for all followers and students of mass communication, history, politics, and leadership in Nigeria.
