UN officials revealed that trucks carrying humanitarian aid have amassed at Niger’s borders following a military coup, leading to higher food prices. The sanctions aim to pressure the junta to reinstate the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.
UN aid flights are grounded due to fuel access issues, hampering efforts to help the population. UNICEF’s aid efforts are also hindered, affecting vaccine supplies and healthcare access. Concerns over security incidents have surged among Niger’s forcibly displaced population after the coup.
