The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Lagos State Council, has refuted claims that the person arrested for administering an injection to the late singer Mohbad was a registered nurse. The association stressed the need for media outlets to verify qualifications before labeling individuals as healthcare professionals.
Mohbad’s death occurred on September 12, 2023, and his father had mentioned an auxiliary nurse’s involvement. The Lagos State Police Command has conducted an autopsy on the singer’s remains, and the nurses’ council called for professionalism in reporting and investigating the incident while emphasizing the importance of qualified healthcare personnel.
The council also highlighted the regulatory challenges in Nigeria’s healthcare system and urged accuracy in media reporting.
