Dignitaries, Including VP Shettima and Governor Makinde, to Commemorate Late Governor Ajimobi’s 74th Posthumous Birthday

Dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, will honor the late former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi at his posthumous 74th birthday.

The event, titled “6th Annual Senator Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable,” will feature a lecture on re-engineering Nigeria for sustainable development. The late Ajimobi passed away on June 25, 2020, from COVID-19 complications.

Other attendees include Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Abdullahi Ganduje, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Lekan Balogun, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Abubakar Bagudu, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, and former Osun State governor Bisi Akande, among others.

The gathering, set to take place at the Abiola Ajimobi Resource Centre, University of Ibadan, aims to address challenges hindering Nigeria’s progress and explore new paths for development.

Speaking on behalf of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation and the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan, Bolaji Tunji said the theme of this year’s lecture was agreed upon by the different stakeholders in view of the situation in the country.

Tunji highlighted that the lecture, titled ‘Re-engineering Nigeria for Sustainable Development: Options, Costs and Prospects’, will be delivered by a former Dean, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Albert.

He emphasized the importance of identifying obstacles to Nigeria’s advancement and charting new paths for development, considering the country’s vast human and natural potential. The aim is to build a peaceful society by addressing factors hindering peaceful coexistence and progress.
