In the aftermath of Christmas Day celebrations, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) engaged in a verbal clash over the state of Nigeria.
The PDP criticized the APC-led government, accusing it of policies that have pushed many into poverty.
According to the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the anti-people policies of the APC administration under President Bola Tinubu have left millions of Nigerian families economically stranded and socially dislocated.
The opposition party urged Nigerians not to succumb to despondency but to use the occasion of Christmas to offer prayers and renew their hope in divine intervention.
Contrarily, the APC swiftly responded, dismissing the PDP as a disillusioned party seeking recognition. Bala Ibrahim, the National Publicity Director of the APC, stated that the PDP is the one running short of credibility and emphasized the positive changes coming to Nigeria under the APC government.
President Tinubu’s discounted transport fares for holiday travel were highlighted as an effort to renew the hope of Nigerians. Ibrahim asserted that unlike the past under the PDP administration, Nigerians could now celebrate Christmas without the threat of insecurity, and people were encouraged to travel home at half price.
The National Chairman of APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership in a Christmas goodwill message.
He called on Nigerians to maintain hope, stating that with collective efforts, the challenges facing the country can be overcome.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, urged Nigerians to focus on prayer for President Tinubu and the National Assembly.
He emphasized the importance of supporting leaders and praying for their wellness, good judgment, safety, grace, and success.
The post-Christmas clash between the APC and PDP reflects a deep divide in perspectives on the state of the nation, with the opposition criticizing economic policies and the ruling party emphasizing positive changes and encouraging hope among citizens.
