President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate closely with the Oyo State Government to provide immediate relief to the victims of the unexpected explosion that rocked Ibadan on Tuesday.
The incident, which tragically claimed two lives and left around 80 people injured, resulted in significant damage to buildings, vehicles, and other properties.
President Tinubu expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasizing the need for a swift and thorough identification of those responsible. He specifically denounced the involvement of illegal miners and called for their prompt identification and punishment.
In his message of condolence to Oyo State, President Tinubu urged all relevant agencies to conduct thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who confirmed the casualties, assured government support for the victims. He attributed the blast to illegal miners and emphasized the ongoing efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
