President Bola Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing the education sector during the commissioning of Tertiary Education Trust Fund projects at the University of Ibadan and The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The commissioned projects included the construction of the Department of Architecture building and blocks of offices and classrooms at the Faculty of Technology at the University of Ibadan.
Additionally, blocks of classrooms and offices for the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies, Faculty of Financial Management Studies, and Faculty of Science were commissioned at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, expressed confidence that these projects would significantly enhance learning, teaching, and academic standards.
He reiterated the importance of education in his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing continued federal support to make educational institutions globally competitive.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Kayode Adebowale, highlighted how the new building assisted the department in securing accreditation for some courses.
At The Polytechnic, Ibadan, the Rector, Prof Kazeem Adebiyi, mentioned that Tetfund had contributed to the institution with three faculty buildings, three lecture theatres, and equipment for various programs.
Babatunde Olajide, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at TetFund, speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary, affirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to uplifting tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The continuous support from TetFund reflects a dedication to the improvement and development of the country’s higher education landscape.
