The Oyo/Osun Area Command Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, shared impressive revenue figures, stating that the command collected over N11bn between September and October.
This noteworthy contribution adds to the cumulative revenue of N59bn from January to August 2023.
Oramalugo unveiled these financial achievements during his inaugural press conference at the command’s Headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Having assumed duties on September 18, 2023, the Controller demonstrated effective leadership in managing the command’s fiscal responsibilities.
Highlighting the command’s operational successes, Oramalugo reported the interception of significant contraband. This included 64 sacks and 150 compressed Cannabis Sativa weighing 777.5 kg, 1,248 bags of rice weighing 50kg, and 425 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit.
Additionally, the command seized 24 bales of used clothes, one used bag, one Dane gun, and 492 pieces of used tires from various locations within its jurisdiction.
These seizures reflect the command’s commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring security.
Oramalugo’s report underscores the multifaceted role of the Nigeria Customs Service in revenue generation and maintaining order within its area of responsibility.
