Renowned Nigerian political figure Ghali Umar Na’Abba, who served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, passed away in Abuja early Wednesday after a prolonged illness at the age of 65, according to family sources.

Initially associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he represented the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, winning in the April 1999 general elections.

The late Na’Abba’s funeral arrangements will follow Islamic rites, culminating in his interment in Abuja.

His health struggles had prompted his medical evacuation abroad, leading to an extended period away from Nigeria. However, he successfully recuperated and resumed his activities in his home country.
