All Progressives Congress Party stalwarts from accross the ten local government areas of Oke-ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State have earlier this week unanimously insisted that the next Senator to represent Oyo North Senatorial District should come from the zone in the spirit of justice, equity and fairness, while also affirming their unwavering support for the rotation of Governorship seat amongst the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
This was conveyed through a communique issued and read out to newsmen at the end of their zonal meeting which held at Ado-Awaye in Iseyin Local Government Area of the state last Tuesday.
The communique which was largely expected, in certain circles, to address the leadership gap in the party, particularly at the zonal level was not emphatic in that direction, as it vaguely declared; ” …the meeting’s aim was not to anoint His Excellency, Chief Barrister lyiola Oladokun as the Leader of APC in Oyo State, we acknowledge and support his exemplary leadership qualities at both the Zonal and state levels. We give our unwavering support for the acting party chairman of APC in Oyo State”
The Communiqué stressed further:
“After reviewing the situation reports from various local governments within Oke Ogun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders resolved as follows:
1.We express our unwavering support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and the commendable programs of His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Tinubu Pains will definitely bring Tinubu Gains.
2. Acknowledgment of Leadership: While the meeting’s aim was not to anoint His Excellency, Chief Barrister lyiola Oladokun,as theLeader of APC in Oyo State, we acknowledge and support his exemplary leadership qualities atboth the zonal and state levels.We give our unwavering support for the acting party chairman ofAPC in Oyo state. 3.We appreciate the contributions of our elected officials, past and present, to the development ofOke Ogun.However, we urge them to redouble their efforts for the progress of our zone.
4.Unity and Love Among Party Members:
We call on all party members to foster unity and love for one another to ensure the party’s futureprosperity and success.
5. Encouragement of Gender Balance:
We advocate for gender balance at all levels of the party to promote inclusivity and equity.
6.Avoidance of Internal Conflicts:
Party members are advised to desist from casting aspersions against one another. Instead, weshould embrace a spirit and culture that promote unity of purpose and harmony for the party’sprogression.
7. Commitment to APC Success in 2027:
Members across the 10 local governments of Oke Ogun reaffirm their commitment to ensuringthe success of the APC at all levels in the 2027 elections. That members should committed tothe core values of the progressive party and not to the Aspirants.
8. Oke Ogun Aspiration for 2027.
In the spirit of fairness and justice we are committed to power rotation among the Three Senatorial Districts of Oyo State and also Oke Ogun producing the next Senator of Oyo NorthSenatorial District.
9. Neglect of Oke Ogun by the Present Government in Oyo State
We condemn in its totality the neglect of Oke Ogun by OYSG in infrastructure development.Most of our roads are in deplorable conditions and OYSG give a deaf ear to the cry of thepeople of Oke Ogun” , the communique concluded.
