Barr. Akeem Agbaje, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has appealed to Muslims to use this year’s Ramadan to demonstrate the true essence of Islam through personal conduct rather than mere instructions.
In a goodwill message marking the commencement of the 30-day fast, Agbaje expressed his greetings and best wishes to the Muslim community, reminding them that Ramadan is a sacred month dedicated to spiritual reflection, prayer, and community bonding, commemorating the period when the holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW). “Ramadan is not just about fasting but an opportunity for self-discipline, compassion, devotion to Almighty Allah, strengthening of our faith, assistance to the needy and promotion of peace, love and unity in our communities,” Agbaje stated.
He urged Muslims to uphold the core values of Islam—piety, honesty, and kindness—by demonstrating them in their daily interactions. He further encouraged acts of charity and mutual support, especially towards the less privileged, as a means of fostering communal harmony. “As we observe this holy month, let us strive to reflect the teachings of Islam in our actions, ensuring that our deeds align with the virtues we uphold,” he added.
Agbaje prayed for Allah’s blessings on the Muslim Ummah and wished for a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Ramadan.
