The two Communities of the ancient towns of Ipapo and Oke-Amu, both in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State have symbolically agreed to re-enact and sustain the spirit of brotherhood and love which brought their Ancestors together in peaceful coexistence as communal neighbours from time immemorial till the present day.

This is the cardinal message conveyed through the holding of this year’s Ipapo Descendants Union National Working Committee meeting at Oke-Amu, which was hosted by the Ipapo indigenes resident in the town, last Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The meeting which witnessed a large turnout of all Ipapo indigenes in Oke-Amu, gaily dressed in their “aso-ebi”, specifically designed for the occasion, as well as delegates from the Union’s branches across the states of the federation and beyond commenced with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olugunwa, HRM Oba Ghasali Omotosho.

Alh. Jimoh Opoola Adebayo, President, Ipapo Descendants Union who led the delegation conveyed goodwill messages from the Kabiyesi, Oba Eleyinpo of Ipapo, HRM Oba Yekeen Ademola Abioye , to Olugunwa, his Chiefs-in-Council, as well as all Ipapo sons and daughters residing in Oke-Amu .

The IDU President while describing the vist as “history-making”, thanked the palace and the entire Oke-Amu-Ipapo indigenes led by the Executive Chairman, Itesiwaju Local Government, Hon. Ojo Monsuru Olayemi, for facilitating the hosting.

The Olugunwa in his response hinted the delegate on his blood relationship with Teetu Compound in ipapo as well, while expressing his appreciation for the homage accorded the palace, adding that he’s happy that this historic event was happening during his reign. He wished the visitors fruitful deliberations and prayed for continuous bonding between the two Communities for mutual benefits.
