Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, hearing the case of the death of a Masters student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke, on Wednesday adjourned till October 10 for the adoption of final written addresses.
Dr Ramon Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, where late Adegoke died, and six of his staff members have been on trial over the death.
After closure of case by the defence team, the court had adjourned the matter till Thursday, July 14 for the adoption of final written addresses and ruling on application by the prosecution team seeking to amend the charge of the defendants.
But the matter did not come up last week Thursday and no reason was given. But sources in court said the matter was slated for Wednesday.
However, despite the presence of prosecution team led by Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, as well as Mr. Kunle Adegoke, SAN, who led the defence team in the court, the matter did not hold.
Apart from Adedoyin that was not in court, other six defendants were present.
The counsel later met with Osun State Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, who is handling the case in her chamber and chose October 10 for the adoption of final written address.
Speaking with newsmen in the court premises, Mr. Falana, disclosed the adjourned date, saying “we discovered that we have not filed our papers in terms of our written addresses. That is why we agreed to take a date and we have picked October 10 because the court is going on vacation.”
