The KanoSstate Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, on Wednesday, revoked the land allocation of the area where a three-storey building collapsed at Beirut road, GSM market, arguing that “originally this place should be a parking space only. It is too small for shop construction.”

Amid jubilation by the marketers during his visit to the scene of the incident, Ganduje disclosed that a very powerful Technical Committee had been instituted to look into the incident and ascertain the cause of the tragedy.

“We should know that, from the onset, any building should be designed and supervised by professionals. Within a period of one week, this committee will submit its report and we will act on it most appropriately,” he said.

He urged the marketers to cooperate with the workers who were excavating debris, adding that, “After excavating the scene properly, government will immediately start to provide a befitting parking space.”

Ganduje was with his Deputy, Nasiru Gawuna, some Commissioners and some top government functionaries on the occasion.
