The Lagos State Police Command took action to disperse sympathizers who had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate to mourn the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. This move aimed to prevent a recurrence of the EndSARS protests.

According to a statement from the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, an agreement had been made between the police and the event organizers not to use the Lekki Toll Gate as a gathering point.

However, some individuals later violated this agreement, prompting the police to disperse them with teargas to ensure the safety of lives and property in the area.

The police emphasized that their use of teargas was in line with crowd management best practices, and no live ammunition was fired. They stated their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state and promised updates on the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

The police warned against any attempts to disrupt the state’s peace and reassured the public of their dedication to prioritizing safety and security.

The investigation into Mohbad’s death is progressing, and the public was urged not to create unnecessary distractions during the inquiry.

The police also acknowledged their close cooperation with #justiceforMohbad support groups and pledged to provide regular updates on the investigation.
