Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, attributed the escalating crime rate to illegal motor parks and uncompleted buildings utilized by criminals. He expressed concern over reports of kidnappings and emphasized that the rising criminal activities were linked to these factors.

In addressing the security issues, the minister underscored the necessity of dismantling uncompleted buildings serving as hideouts for criminals. He highlighted plans to shut down illegal motor parks as part of comprehensive measures aimed at enhancing security in Abuja.

The minister’s statements reflect a proactive approach by the FCTA to tackle the root causes of crime, addressing both the physical spaces used by criminals and the informal structures contributing to security challenges.
