Governor Makinde, represented by his deputy, emphasized the allocation of approximately 20% of the state’s budget to the education sector, underscoring its pivotal role in fostering progress and societal development.

The governor took pride in several noteworthy achievements that exemplify the administration’s dedication to enhancing the educational landscape in Oyo State.

Notable among these accomplishments is the recruitment of 5,000 teachers, a strategic move aimed at bolstering the quality of education provided to students.

Additionally, the establishment of a new campus in Iseyin has expanded educational opportunities, facilitating access for students in previously underserved areas.

Makinde proudly announced the state’s sole ownership of Ladoke Akintola University, marking a crucial milestone in consolidating control over this esteemed institution.

Despite grappling with financial challenges, Oyo State sustains three universities, namely LAUTECH, Tech-U, and Emmanuel Alayande University, all fully owned and operated by the state government.

The Commissioner for Education, Professor Solihu Adelabu, applauded the administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring sound and qualitative education.

He highlighted the state’s consistent budgetary allocation of 15% to 20% for education annually, yielding positive outcomes and contributing to the successes celebrated during the Education Day event.

Notably, the achievements in Oyo State’s educational sector were underscored by an absence of examination malpractices, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the education system.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including parents, school administrators, teachers, and members of the press, whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the Education Day Celebration.

Pupils who received prizes at the event expressed heartfelt appreciation for Governor Makinde’s acknowledgment of their academic achievements.

They pledged to sustain their dedication to academic excellence, viewing the awards as both a recognition of past efforts and an encouragement for future endeavors.

The Education Stakeholders were urged to persist in their positive contributions, promoting peace and kindness within the educational ecosystem.

The event concluded on a note of optimism, with a collective wish for the continued prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
