Osun State Government Dismisses N25,000 Allowance Rumors
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

The Osun State Government has strongly denied a circulating report suggesting an additional N25,000 allowance for civil servants to counter the impact of petrol subsidy removal.

According to Mr. Kolapo Alimi, the state Commissioner for Information, the claim is the result of mischievous elements attempting to create discord between the government and its workforce.

In a statement, Alimi urged the public to dismiss the unsigned message circulating on social media.

He clarified that the government is still in the process of determining an appropriate means to support workers in light of the fuel subsidy removal and emphasized their commitment to employee welfare.

The statement highlighted the government’s past efforts, including implementing the financial implications of civil servants’ promotions granted as far back as 2019.

It assured workers that the administration under Senator Ademola Adeleke would soon introduce a well-packaged transport scheme to alleviate the pressure of transportation costs resulting from the fuel subsidy removal.

The government emphasized its commitment to transparent communication, stating that any additional allowance would be officially communicated through appropriate channels.

Alimi urged workers and the people of Osun State to disregard the viral post on worker allowances and assured them that the government is actively working on providing necessary support within the available means to avoid financial misadventures of the past.
