In a significant development in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed Justice Olayinka Afolabi as the acting Chief Judge.

This decision comes following the resolution of the State Assembly to suspend Chief Judge Justice Adepele Ojo.

The Assembly has recommended an investigation into petitions against Justice Ojo and, during the probe, directed her to step aside.

Governor Adeleke swiftly approved the Assembly’s resolution, further instructing the deputy governor to conduct the swearing-in ceremony for Justice Afolabi.

This move aims to ensure the smooth transition and continuity of judicial functions within the state.

Simultaneously, the suspended Chief Judge has taken legal action against Governor Adeleke, the Attorney General, and the Judicial Service Commission.

Through her lawyer, Mr. Oladipo Olasope (SAN), Justice Ojo obtained an interim order restraining her removal from office. The court proceedings for these legal actions are scheduled for December 12.

This development highlights the intricate legal and administrative landscape in Osun State, with the judiciary playing a central role in addressing allegations and ensuring due process.

The outcome of the investigations and legal proceedings will likely have a lasting impact on the state’s judicial system and governance.
