Governor Abiodun: ‘Light Ahead’ in Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun encourages Nigerians to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing its bold economic reforms.

Despite short-term challenges, Abiodun expresses optimism about long-term gains and praises Tinubu’s decisive actions, including fuel subsidy removal and naira liberalization.

Governor Abiodun, confident in Tinubu’s leadership, sees a positive economic turnaround ahead.

He highlights measures, such as salary increases and VAT suspension, aimed at addressing concerns and preventing labor strikes.

Abiodun acknowledges the administration’s audacity in tackling inherited issues, describing the previous state as “almost comatose.”

In the wake of subsidy removal and the resultant increase in the cost of living, the Tinubu government introduced a package.

This package includes a 35,000 naira ($45) monthly pay increase for federal employees over six months, temporary VAT suspension on diesel, and social security cash transfers to the poorest Nigerians, among other initiatives.

These efforts aim to persuade labor unions, who have threatened strikes, to avoid disruptions.

Overall, Abiodun remains hopeful, citing President Tinubu’s background as a former governor, senator, and accountant.

He believes the administration’s concerted efforts will lead to a positive outcome, expressing confidence in seeing “the light at the end of the tunnel.”
