The Ondo State House of Assembly has issued a warning against violating resolutions stemming from a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

The warning comes after the Assembly’s first plenary session on Tuesday, following the meeting with Tinubu in Abuja the previous Friday.

During the session, Speaker Mr. Olamide Oladiji disclosed that one of the resolutions was for the deputy governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to write an undated resignation letter and submit it to the President.

The Speaker stated that he, the Secretary of the Ondo State Government, Mrs. Oladunni Odu, and the state Chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, were appointed to monitor compliance.

The resolutions, read by Speaker Oladiji, emphasized maintaining peace, upholding the status quo, terminating impeachment proceedings, withdrawing court cases, preserving the State Executive Council, submitting an undated resignation letter by the deputy governor, and ensuring the continuity of party and Assembly leadership.

The Speaker noted that the lawmakers were acting within the mandate given by their constituents and demonstrated courage when needed.

During the plenary session, the Assembly approved 51 members for the Interim Caretaker Committee, as requested by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Security was heightened around the Assembly complex during the session.

Efforts to reach the deputy governor were unsuccessful, but a political associate suggested dissatisfaction with the Assembly’s decision and uncertainty over the deputy governor’s role.
