The University of Ilorin in Kwara State has announced a reduction in school charges for the 2022/2023 academic session as students resume academic activities. The updated charges were communicated in the UNILORIN news bulletin published on Monday.

According to the university management, the decision to revise the charges followed a series of meetings between the university’s leadership, led by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Abayomi Omotesho, and the Students’ Union, represented by its President, Joseph Ologundudu. The new charges range from N114,720 to N215,820 for new students and N52,700 to N91,430 for returning students, depending on their courses of study.

This adjustment represents a reduction from the initially released charges, which ranged between N138,240 and N254,640 for new students and N69,360 to N103,560 for returning students, depending on their courses of study.

The university initially released these charges on its official social media platforms on November 24, 2023, but later announced the downward review on November 28, 2023, after discussions with the Students’ Union leadership.

The UNILORIN news bulletin quoted Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Abayomi Omotesho, stating that the university addressed students’ concerns through dialogue, underscoring its commitment to fostering a supportive and conducive learning environment for all members of the academic community.

Joseph Ologundudu, the President of the Students’ Union, expressed gratitude to the university management for its thoughtfulness in adjusting the charges.

This collaborative approach demonstrates the university’s responsiveness to student concerns and its commitment to providing an accessible and supportive educational experience.
