The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, wanted on charges of forgery and corruption.
The EFCC shared a communique displaying Agunloye’s image, urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Commission or relevant authorities.
Agunloye had previously been questioned over an alleged $6 billion Build, Operate and Transfer contract. The EFCC’s investigation uncovered procurement fraud involving substantial sums intended for power projects.
The sums of N27,184,357,524.52 and $19,084,419.33 were recovered, intended for the Mambilla and Zungeru Power projects but diverted through sundry Bureau de Change operators.
The anti-graft agency initiated the investigation in September, focusing on officials from the Federal Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Agriculture. Agunloye, a former Minister of State for Defence (Navy), had become a candidate for Governor of Ondo State and was affiliated with the People’s Democratic Party and the Action Congress of Nigeria.
