Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was honored with the title of Gbobaniyi of Ijebuland by the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, on Saturday.
The chieftaincy titles were also bestowed upon former Ogun governorship hopeful, Jimi Lawal, and his wife, Maryam.
El-Rufai expressed his delight on his verified social media handle, highlighting that he is the first individual outside the southwest to receive a chieftaincy title from the Awujale.
The recognition ceremony, held on the 16th of December 2023, acknowledged their contributions to the Ijebu Kingdom and Nigeria.
In his post, El-Rufai expressed gratitude to Kabiyesi Awujale for the recognition and thanked everyone who wished him well for this honor.
Nasir El-Rufai served as the governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023, and this latest recognition adds to his notable achievements and contributions.
