In the wake of a tragic explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde provided somber details during his visit to the scene. Confirming the devastating impact, the governor disclosed that the explosion resulted in two fatalities and left 77 individuals injured. With a heavy heart, he extended condolences to the families affected by this unfortunate incident.

Governor Makinde, demonstrating a commitment to alleviating the suffering, assured the public that the government would cover the medical bills of all victims.

Additionally, temporary accommodation would be provided for those whose houses bore the brunt of the explosion. The blast, reportedly caused by illegal miners storing explosive devices in Bodija, led to widespread damage in the vicinity.

Security agencies swiftly initiated investigations into the incident, aiming to ascertain responsibility and ensure accountability. The governor emphasized that those found culpable for the explosion would be brought to justice, signaling a determination to address the root causes of the tragedy.

In response to the immediate aftermath, emergency response teams were deployed to conduct comprehensive search, rescue, and support operations.

The governor highlighted the collaborative efforts of relevant agencies within Oyo State to manage the situation effectively.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 7:44 pm on January 16, 2024, in Bodija, prompted urgent measures to provide assistance to the injured and restore normalcy to the affected community.
