The governor revealed that the state had been actively working on long-term solutions to address the challenges posed by the explosion.

This includes providing medical attention to the casualties, offering temporary accommodation to victims, and dealing with the security aspects of the incident.

He emphasized the complexity of the situation, covering humanitarian needs, medical care, and the impact on education, particularly for affected children.

“Yes, we have been battling with the fallout from the incident; we have been trying to give the affected people temporary accommodation so that they can continue their lives.

Also, we have the people who got injured and need medical attention and the humanitarian side of it where some children are supposed to be in school now,” Makinde explained.

He acknowledged the early stages of addressing the aftermath and highlighted the necessity for a comprehensive, long-term solution. Encouraging public understanding and support, Makinde expressed gratitude for prayers during this challenging time.

In a separate context, Makinde used the occasion to pledge his commitment to the unity of the Peoples Democratic Party. He recognized the crucial role played by the Board of Trustees and emphasized the importance of party unity.

Earlier, Chairman of the PDP BoT, Senator Adolphus Wabara, commended Governor Makinde for his swift response to the incident.

He specifically noted Makinde’s engineering expertise, highlighting his directive for structural integrity tests on about 230 buildings in the affected area.

Wabara extended the party’s condolences to the governor, the state government, and the families who lost loved ones in the tragic incident. The PDP’s Board of Trustees expressed solidarity and support for Oyo State during this challenging period.
