The people of Oyo State, particularly the political disciples of the late Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso have been called upon to always celebrate the late political icon through their actions and good deeds in the service of mankind.
This was conveyed through a statement released to the press, by Hon Adekunle Tunji Rafiu, Executive Chairman, Oyo State Pensions Board to mark the first anniversary of the passing of the renowned politician and statesman who left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Oyo State and Nigeria.
He declared;”As we commemorate the one-year anniversary of his passing, it’s essential to reflect on his remarkable legacies; in some sectors like Education; where he played a pivotal role in establishing educational institutions, including: Michael Adeniyi Koleoso Polytechnic, Saki, Saki Technical College; offering vocational training and skills acquisition for a number of students.
Also are Community Secondary Schools- expanding access to education for the youths in Saki and surrounding areas.Schools of Nursing and Midwifery: Contributing to the development of the healthcare sector.In the area of Infrastructure Development, he facilitated the construction of Saki Township Stadium, providing a hub for sports and community activities. Saki township roads improve connectivity and facilitated economic growth, while OYSADA, Sakisupports agricultural development in the region.
Leadership and Public Service aspects, Koleoso served in various capacities, including Secretary to the Oyo State Government. While of note are his philanthropic and humanitarian assistance in facilitating pilgrimages for individuals, to Mecca and Jerusalem, demonstrating his commitment to services to God almighty.
Adekunle admonished further, “as we honor Chief Koleoso’s legacy, it’s crucial to ensure the continuation of his vision and impact by preserving and sustaining the institutions and initiatives he established”.”There is need to build upon his achievements – expanding access to education, healthcare, and infrastructural development”.
Celebrating his life, leadership, and contributions to the community should include establishing a Foundation in his name to perpetuate his values and philanthropic spirit, for which conversion of one of his properties to Humanitarian Service Hubs to serve the community and promote humanitarian causes may be necessary. Establishment of a Political Dynasty towards ensuring his legacy continues to inspire future generations of leaders.
To Koleoso’s political sons and daughters, Adekunle advised them to build on positive image by upholding the values and reputation he built, be proud of the training impacted, whilst leveraging on the skills and experience gained from him.
He concluded by challenging them to be Good Ambassadors of Baba in their political pursuits, with integrity and dedication, foster positive attitude towards others, be diligent and prudent, don’t abandon his friends and family members and keep celebrating him through your actions and deeds.”
