An Oyo State High Court in Oyo has postponed the hearing of Governor Seyi Makinde’s objection to a suit by Oyomesi in Council, Oyo kingmakers, over Alaafin of Oyo’s vacant stool.

Justice Ladiran Akintola set the adjournment for December 14 after receiving submissions for the case (marked HOY/41/2023).

The kingmakers, including Basorun of Oyo Yusuf Ayoola and Lagunna of Oyo Wakeel Oyedepo, seek an injunction preventing Makinde from overturning their chosen Alaafin candidate.

The revered Alaafin stool became vacant after Oba Lamidi Adeyemi’s demise in April 2022, ruling for 52 years.
