President Bola Tinubu asserted his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s security during the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Maiduguri, Borno State on Monday.
In a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu declared his determination to provide the necessary support to the military, ensuring the nation’s stability and overcoming challenges.
Acknowledging the Nigerian Army’s dedication to national security, the President urged the army to maintain non-partisanship while remaining vigilant in upholding democratic principles, especially during elections.
Tinubu commended the Armed Forces for their professional conduct during elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, emphasizing their crucial role as guardians of constitutional order and democracy.
The President expressed satisfaction with ongoing civilian-military projects across the country, highlighting their significance in fostering understanding between the military and civilians, while also improving living conditions.
Citing the recent procurement of new aircraft as evidence of his commitment to upgrading national defense capability, President Tinubu affirmed his administration’s dedication to advancing the military’s modernization process, focusing on mobility, communications, and offensive striking capabilities.
During the conference, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, updated the President on military operations nationwide, noting significant successes in weakening criminal elements and addressing farmer-herders crises in various regions.
