President Tinubu Condemns Heinous Plateau State Attack, Calls for Swift Action
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

President Bola Tinubu strongly condemns the recent attack in Plateau State, labeling it as heinous. Gunmen targeted over 15 communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas on Christmas Eve, resulting in the tragic death of over 115 people.

President Tinubu has directed security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and has ordered immediate relief resources and medical treatment for the victims.

The attacks, described as “barbaric” by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, have sparked concerns, with gunfire reported in the region.

Amnesty International criticizes the government’s response, citing a failure to address frequent deadly attacks in Plateau state.

The northwest and central regions of Nigeria continue to face security challenges from bandit militias, exacerbated by competition for resources between herders and farmers.

A jihadist conflict has raged in northeastern Nigeria since 2009, killing tens of thousands of people and displacing around two million, as Boko Haram battles for supremacy with rivals linked to the Islamic State group.

President Tinubu, a former Lagos governor elected in February, has promised to attract more investment to address the country’s persistent security issues.
