The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, calls on recently promoted naval senior officers to enhance their efforts in combatting oil theft and maritime crimes.

During the decoration ceremony in Abuja, Ogalla emphasizes that, in addition to maritime engagements, the Navy plays a vital role in counter-terrorism operations in the North-East and North-West. He urges the officers to give their best in efforts to eliminate criminal activities across the country.

Six officers are promoted to the rank of Commodore, four to Captain, and 16 to Commander.

Ogalla, represented by Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, cautions the officers not to take their promotions lightly.

He highlights the pressing need to address maritime crimes, including piracy, robbery at sea, crude oil theft, illegal refining sites, and pipeline vandalism.

Ogalla underscores the formal decoration ceremony as a testament to the dedication, diligence, and loyalty of the promoted officers.

In addressing the security threats faced by the country, he emphasizes the officers’ new phase in their careers, calling for commitment, responsibility, and output in the service of the nation, especially during this crucial period in the nation’s history.
